Teuku Zakaria Bin Teuku Nyak Puteh (P. Ramlee) was born on
the first of Hari Raya in 1929, on March 22 (Hari Raya Baby) in his grandmother's house at No. 4A Counter Hall
Road which
is a humble house typical of a Malay Kampung. Now it opened as P. Ramlee House and known as Jalan P. Ramlee,
in Georgetown, Penang. His father Teuku Nyak Puteh Bin Teuku Karim, was a
sailor from Lhokseumawe in Aceh, Indonesia while his mother, Che Mah Binti Hussein,
originated from Kubang Buaya, Seberang Prai, Penang. P Ramlee also had a
stepbrother named Sheikh Ali Mohamad born of his mother’s previous marriage.
